HNHS alumni make donation Friday, December 16, 2022 11:55 AM The Huntington North High School Class of 1972 recently raised $6,300 during its 50th class reunion at Heritage Hall. With the funds, the class purchased a gazebo for the Huntington Community School Corporation’s Learning Center. The gazebo was assembled by Dave Harvey’s building trades class. Pet parade planned Friday, July 15, 2022 3:12 PM The annual 4-H Pet Parade will be held July 26 at 7 p.m. in the Parkview Huntington Hospital Show Arena at the Huntington County Fairgrounds, as part of the fair. Children aged 9 and younger may participate if they are not enrolled in the regular 4-H program. Mini 4-H member are eligible to enter. Participants may choose to enter their pets as individuals or as groups. They are encouraged to wear a costume and dress up their pet. Each child will receive a prize. Two-EE’s receive medal Friday, July 15, 2022 3:11 PM A wine produced by Two-EE’s Winery in Roanoke was recently awarded the bronze medal in the prestigious 2022 TEXSOM Awards. Two EE’s 2020 Touriga Nacional, a dry red wine, competed against 2,000 collective entries worldwide, where only a fraction of submissions are awarded medals. Marleigh LaVine wins competitions, conducts fundraiser Friday, July 15, 2022 3:08 PM Photo by Frederick's Photography Marleigh LaVine competed in the Sunburst State pageant in Indianapolis and was crowned Indiana’s Overall Princess for ages 5 – 27. She competed with approximately 50 contestants in both the 7 to 10-year-old division and the overall category that encompassed all contestants in the 5 to 27-year-old divisions. Rolling into Roanoke to take place July 23 Friday, July 15, 2022 3:07 PM Rolling Into Roanoke, Northeast Indiana’s premier annual car event, will be July 23 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Historic Downtown Roanoke and Park. It’s a family-friendly event where admission is free and spectator parking is just $5 per car. Event day registration for show cars is $30 for downtown if there is space available and $10 in the park. Roanoke Auxiliary announces scholarship winner Friday, July 15, 2022 2:53 PM During the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 160 meeting on July 5 at the American Legion Post in Roanoke, President Barb Carroll introduced the Roanoke Auxiliary Scholarship winner Ryleigh Alles. Alles is a 2022 graduate of Homestead High School. She plans to attend St. Mary’s College to study mathematics before continuing to Notre Dame to study engineering. She hopes to have a career in civil engineering. Alles is a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a three-year Junior member before moving up to senior status at age 18. Camp Hero stands for Honor, Excellence, Respect, and with all three of those it can lead to Opportunities. Over the course of four days, Law enforcement officers, such as conservation officers, paramedics, police officers, and firefighters volunteered and taught kids about law enforcement and safety in all situations.
