New exhibit at gallery

A new exhibit, “Together Again,” opens June 9 at Crestwoods Gallery featuring Gwen Gutwein paintings and Elizabeth Wamsley ceramics.

An artist reception will be held on June 16 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The show runs through July 7.

Crestwoods Gallery is located at 314 N. Main St., Roanoke.

Warren market place transforms with addition of craft/art event

The Warren Downtown Farmers Market is being transformed into the Warren Downtown Market Place, a farmers market and craft/art vendor event on Thursday evenings from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., weather permitting, in downtown Warren.

The market will be held now to autumn in the 100 Block of South Main Street, next to the new Downtown Warren Event Park.

The town will close the 100 Block of South Main Street to through traffic for the event.

Those interested in participating in the market may call Terry and Melinda Daniels at the Warren Pharmacy, 375-2135.

Norwood earns DL at Evansville

Jami Norwood, of Roanoke, has achieved a place on the University of Evansville dean’s list for academic achievements during the spring semester 2018. Norwood is majoring in athletic training.

To make the dean’s list, a student at UE must earn at least a 3.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.

HNHS show choirs to hold fish fry fund-raiser Saturday

The Huntington North High School Varsity Singers and Viking Volume show choirs will hold a fish fry fund-raiser Saturday, May 19, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the high school cafeteria.

The meal includes all-you-can-eat fish and tenderloin, green beans, applesauce, chips and drinks. Carryout is available.

For tickets or questions, contact events@show choir.net. Tickets will also be available at the door.

The high school is located at 450 MacGahan St., Huntington. Enter through door No. 3 or door No. 28.

Tractor Pullers donate to Roanoke police

Kelly Schoenemann of the Roanoke Tractor Pullers (right) celebrates with Roanoke Town Marshal Jim Wood after presenting him a check for $2,000 recently. The organization donates proceeds each year from the tractor pull and demolition derby back to the community and the police department will use the funds to update the radios that its officers carry.

Master Gardeners to help kids with Father’s Day plant-based gifts

The Huntington County Master Gardeners will help children create a plant-based craft as a Father’s Day gift after a short story time on June 9 at 10 a.m. at the Huntington Branch of the Huntington City-Township Public Library.

Registration is required as there is a limit of 30 participants. Sign up by calling the Youth Services desk at 356-2900.

The Huntington branch is located at 255 W. Park Drive, Huntington.
