Heritage Days seeking contestants to Little Miss, Junior Miss pageant

Huntington County girls are invited to become contestants for the Little Miss and Junior Miss Heritage Days Pageant to be held Wednesday, June 20, at 7 p.m. at Crestview Middle School.

The pageant is open to girls ages 5 to 12 and is part of Huntington’s Heritage Days celebration.

Two divisions will be judged, including Little Miss Heritage Days for girls ages 5 to 8 and Junior Miss Heritage Days ages 9 to 12.

Bradley, Cartwright, Redner get LAC April honors

Three students from Crestview Middle School, Alicia Bradley, Jared Cartwright and Julia Redner, have been named the LaFontaine Arts Council’s April Artists of the Month.

Alicia Bradley, eighth grade, is the daughter of Samuel and Sheila Martin of Huntington. She was nominated for her visual art talent by Art Teacher Liesl Haupert.

“Alicia is very creative and has given 100 percent effort this year. it has been fun to see her grow as an artist and a young lady,” Haupert wrote. “Keep up the good work Alicia – I believe in you!”

Korean vets meet April 14

The Korean War Veterans Association, Indiana Chapter One will hold its monthly meeting on Saturday, April 14, beginning at 10 a.m. at the Eagles No. 248, 4940 Bluffton Rd., Fort Wayne.

Lunch/breakfast will be served following the meeting at the Azar’s Restaurant in Waynedale.

All Korean War veterans are invited to attend, along with their spouses and friends.

ABWA sets style show

The American Business Women’s Association Forks of the Wabash Chapter is hosting a “Unique Boutiques & More” style show, luncheon and shopping event on Saturday, April 21. The event will be held at the Huntington PAL Club, 2101 Riverside Drive, Huntington, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Five boutiques will be featured, including My Silver Lining, ShareChic Boutique, Elle Belle Boutique, Matilda Jane and Bobbi and Bricka.

In addition, more than 20 vendors will have items for sale. There will also be a silent auction and envelope pull.

Lincoln Elementary School has recognized students who achieved honor roll status during the third quarter of the 2017-18 school year.

Salamonie Elementary School announces 3Q perfect attendance list

Salamonie Elementary School has honored students who achieved perfect attendance during the third quarter of the 2017-18 school year.

Local third-graders to enjoy HC Ag Day April 3

Huntington County Ag Day is Tuesday, April 3. Third grade students from public, private and home schools in Huntington County will participate in this event at the Huntington County Fairgrounds.

The Huntington County Extension Office has coordinated an Ag Day event each spring for many years to educate third grade students about agriculture. Individuals who work in agriculture-related fields volunteer their time and talents to make this program a success.
