Local National Wild Turkey banquet set for March 17 at Heritage Hall

The Flint Springs chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation (NW-TF) will host its annual banquet on Saturday, March 17, at Heritage Hall at the Huntington County Fairgrounds to raise money for projects that conserve wildlife and preserve Indiana’s hunting heritage.

“This is the chapter’s 21st year hosting our banquet, and every year is better than the one before,” said Steve Nevius, president of the local NWTF chapter. “It’s the best opportunity in town to meet other people who care about conservation while enjoying good food and good fun.”

Owen’s North aids Love INC

ADTPL has several events for youth in March

The Andrews-Dallas Township Public Library has several events for youth on tap in the coming weeks.

Youth can find the rainbow during the March rain at the Color Craze play day on Saturday, March 10, at 10:30 a.m. Color Craze activities will feature a colored rice play bin, blending color experiments, block play and more.

Monthly play days are geared toward families and their toddlers through third-graders and include snacks, crafts and play areas.

Tescarollo at TUMC Evensong concert March 18

Trinity United Methodist Church continues its Evensong concert series with a concert by pianist Dr. Hamilton Tescarollo Sunday, March 18, at 4 p.m. Admission is free and the public is invited to attend.

Tescarollo is director of keyboard studies at Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne.

The church is located at 530 Guilford St., Huntington. Accessible parking and entrance is located on the west side of the building.

Two more weekends for Pulse’s ‘Lost in Yonkers’

There are still two more weekends of performances on the Tony Award-winning play “Lost in Yonkers” at the Pulse Opera House in Warren.

Performances are Friday and Saturday, March 10 and 11, and Friday, Saturday and Sunday, March 16 to 18. Friday and Saturday shows start at 8 p.m. and the Sunday show starts at 4.

The theater is located at 127-1/2 Wayne St.

‘Full Moon Hike’ set for Salamonie Lake on March 31 at interpretive ctr.

A “Full Moon Hike” will be held at Salamonie Lake on March 31. The program starts at 8 p.m. at the Salamonie Interpretive Center.

Participants are reminded to dress for the weather. The hike is about one mile.

Advance registration is required by calling 468-2127. A program fee applies. The standard gate fee does not apply to hike participants.

Forks of Wabash ABWA hosting ‘Unique Boutiques’ on April 21

The Forks of the Wabash ABWA is hosting “Unique Boutiques & More,” a style show, luncheon and shopping experience, on April 21, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Huntington PAL Club.

Six boutiques will be featured at the event, which will also include a silent auction, an envelope pull and vendors.

Barb Richards, station manager at Fort Wayne TV station channel 33 and Majic 95.1 air personality, will be the master of ceremonies for the event.

Smith, Bostel earn Metro Kiwanis honors

Katie Smith and Elliot Bostel were recently honored by the Huntington Metro Kiwanis as Crestview Middle School outstanding eighth-graders.

The students were selected by the Crestview staff for each individual’s accomplishments, and who have excelled in scholarship, citizenship, sportsmanship, character-bui- lding activities, extracurricular achievement, volunteering and leadership.

Smith is the daughter of Todd and Joy Smith. She has been involved in leadership, Junior National Honor Society, band, church and dance.

Coolman joins The Desk, Copy Stop

The Desk and Copy Stop in Huntington has added computer repair to its list of client services with the hiring of Bob Coolman, formerly of Coolman’s Computer Service in Warren.

Coolman had recently closed his business in Warren after a four-year run, and Dave Wasmuth, owner of The Desk and Copy Stop, figured Coolman’s services would make a nice addition to the Huntington business, he said.

Coolman offers computer service, repair, virus and malware removal, IT service and custom builds as needed. He has extensive experience with larger networks and servers as well, he notes.
