New recycling containers to be delivered in Huntington this week

About 6,500 blue 96-gallon containers such as this one will be delivered to Huntington city residents this week, as curbside recycling returns after nearly a 10-year hiatus. Customers will also receive information as to their pickup day, which will occur every two weeks, and types of materials that can be recycled.

Beginning today, Huntington’s residents will have an additional refuse container delivered to their doors, marking the return of curbside recycling to town. This time, however, the containers will be able to hold a lot more of the recyclable materials, that have been going instead into garbage landfill since the end of the last recycling program in 2008, using lidless, 18-gallon boxes.
