Deer harvest dip probably not a worry

A dip in the deer harvest for 2016 is probably nothing to worry about, says Jason Wade, a biologist with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.
In fact, it may be an indication that hunters are passing up chances to take an antlerless deer in favor of a trophy buck.

“The number of bucks actually went up,” Wade says.

Hunters took 808 white-tailed deer in Huntington County during the 2016 season, according to a report released in April by the Indiana DNR.
