Tonight’s Dialogue on Diversity will focus attention on gender inequality

The City of Huntington Prevention Task Force will hold its second Community Dialogue on Diversity tonight, Monday, April 17, at 6 p.m. at the Huntington Branch of the Huntington City-Township Public Library, 255 W. Park Drive.

The topic for this conversation is “Gender Inequality: A Woman’s Perspective.” A panel of speakers will discuss their experiences within the Huntington community. A question and answer time will follow.

PNC brings puppets, stories, iPad to Kids Kampus

Becky Scheiber, Carol Sunderman and Jennifer Minick, of PNC Bank in Huntington, paid a visit to Pathfinder Kids Kampus on Tuesday, April 11, dropping off gifts of an iPad, puppets and books and staying for story time and a puppet-making session.

The gifts were part of PNC’s Grow Up Great initiative, a nationwide effort to help children develop a passion for learning.

Salamonie COB to host Christian pianist April 30

The Salamonie Church of the Brethren, 2662W-600S, Warren, will host Christian pianist Jim Hendricks on Sunday, April 30, at the 9:30 a.m. worship service. 
The public is invited to attend.

As a child, Hendricks displayed an ability to play anything he heard on records and memorize any printed music that came across the piano. While still in grammar school, he was able to transcribe by ear complex harmonies and melodies without the use of a piano.

Diabetes education program set at Roanoke library

Novo Nordisk is holding a free Diabetes Academy class on Wednesday, April 19, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the Roanoke Public Library, 314 N. Main St., Roanoke.

The class will be taught by a Novo Nordisk diabetes educator to help patients manage the disease. Curriculum includes:

• Diabetes 101 — covers basic diabetes information and terminology.

• Staying Healthy — provides tips for eating a healthy and staying active.

• Diabetes medication — reviews the basics about insulin and non-insulin injectable medications and demonstrates how to use injection devices.

Reinholt of Riverside Veterinary Clinic in Warren.

This map shows the City of Huntington’s planned network of trails. Construction of a section of the Little River Trail along Riverside Drive will be completed this spring, and construction of a segment of the Erie Rail Trail from Briant Street to Huntington University, begins this week.

Dream Center counseling earns court approval

Huntington Superior Court Judge Jenny Newton has approved the Indiana Dream Center’s outpatient program as an option for anyone who has been ordered by her court to obtain drug or alcohol counseling.

The Dream Center says its faith-based program is designed to help with any life-controlling issues by discovering the cause of the addiction and reaching a solution.
