Balbaugh is Sophia’s maternal grandfather. The baby is being treated for kidney cancer. The money from the Lions Club, raised through its annual fish fry, was used to sponsor trivia contest prizes.

Cox joins staff at Any Shape of Hair

Ashley Cox, Any Shape of Hair’s new stylist, brings five years’ experience with her to her new gig.

Cox, a Huntington native who graduated from Huntington North High School’s beauty program in 2011, started at the salon, located at 449 N. Jefferson St., on Feb. 14, and has not regretted making the switch.

She came to Any Shape of Hair from Smart Style, located inside Walmart, where she worked for about two years. Before that she worked at Fiesta Hair for three years, until it closed its Huntington shop.

Huntington Lions Club and Kids Kampus team up to offer free vision screens to area children under 6 years old

The Lions Club of Huntington County in cooperation with the Indiana Lions Eye and Tissue Transplant Bank is once again partnering with Pathfinder Kids Kampus for Operation KidSight. On Friday, March 31, starting at 10 a.m. until approximately noon, members of the Lions Club will be providing free vision screenings at Pathfinder Kids Kampus, 435 Campus St. in Huntingon for children ages 12 months up to 6 years.

Sam Rieger paints a small square of canvas, reproducing a tiny section of Vincent Van Gogh's "Starry Night," at the 25th annual ArtsExpress on Saturday, March 18, at Crestview Middle School. Visitors to the event painted 240 of the small squares, which will be joined into a mural and displayed at the Huntington Branch of the Huntington City-Township Public Library.

Ag Day for third graders set for March 21 at Huntington County Fairgrounds

Third-grade students from public, private and home schools in Huntington County will participate in Huntington County Ag Day events at the Huntington County Fairgrounds on Tuesday, March 21.

The Huntington County Extension Office has coordinated an Ag Day event each spring for many years. The goal of the event is to educate third-grade students about agriculture.
