Helvie signs with Saginaw Valley State

Huntington North senior Emma Helvie put pen to paper on Monday afternoon, Nov. 14, signing with Saginaw Valley State University to continue her academic and softball careers as a Cardinal. Located in University Center, Michigan, Saginaw Valley State is an NCAA Division II institution that competes in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. While Helvie had also considered schools like Grand Valley State University, Huntington University and Indiana Wesleyan University, among others, Helvie ultimately decided Saginaw Valley State was the way to go.

The Tab thanks Correspondent Donna Brown, for her service these past 37 years, with best wishes for her future. Donna wrote “Around Markle” from, in her words, “the beginning of the Tab,” informing readers about happenings for and about her “Folks” in Markle. Since 1985, she never failed to send her article well in advance of her deadline. She was a dedicated writer. The Tab’s staff and management have been fortunate to have had Donna as a colleague from its earliest issues. Her readers have learned much about her and her community through her contributions.

HNHS criminal justice students aid in 'Shop with Cop'

2022 marks 24 years Huntington County’s Shop with a Cop program has successfully promoted giving to children in need. This year’s special event has been set for Dec. 15 at 6 p.m. at the Walmart retail store in Huntington. The programs leader, former Huntington County Sheriff Terry Stoffel, and students from Huntington North High School’s criminal justice class have diligently worked with the process of contacting the business community and other organizations through letters asking for the much-needed assistance.
