Atkinson, Amick crowned 4-H royalty

Samantha Atkinson was crowned queen and Aaron Amick was crowned king of the 2023 Huntington County 4-H. The pair received the crown during a ceremony Friday, July 14. Carter Zezula was named first runner-up in the king contest. In the queen contest, Kelsie Ludemann was named the first runner-up, and Kylee Burnau was named second runner-up. The royalty will reign this week during the Huntington County 4-H Fair. The fair continues through Saturday, July 29, at the fairgrounds.

6 to seek title of 4-H queen

Six local 4-H members are vying for the title of Huntington County 4-H Fair Queen for 2022.

The winner will be crowned on July 15.
Some of the activities begin July 9 and it ends July 28.

The contestants this year are

Audrie Bowman
Audrie Bowman is the daughter of Julie Bowman Scher, Matthew Scher, and the late Brent Bowman.

4-H’ers earn belt buckles

At the Huntington County 4-H Horse and Pony Awards night on Sunday, Aug. 29, three 4-H’ers won belt buckles for their high point scores for this year’s horse and pony shows. The first two buckles were sponsored by Linzy Zahm (left) and went to high point multi horse exhibitor Madison Wajer (second from left) and high point single horse exhibitor Allie Raab (center). The last buckle went to Dawson Husband (fourth from left), presented by Chad Kreider (right) who sponsored the award in memory of his father, Phil Kreider.

Raab wins Supreme Showmanship title

The Huntington County 4-H Fair Supreme Showmanship Contest took place on Wednesday, July 28, in the Parkview Huntington Hospital Show Arena at the fairgrounds.

This event featured the champion showmen in the starter calf, beef, swine, sheep, goat, dairy and horse and pony projects to determine the supreme showmanship champion.

Home environment projects judged

4-H’ers turned their Home Environment projects in on Friday, July 23, at the Huntington County Fairgrounds. Results are as follows:

Grades 3-5, level 1: furniture

Blue ribbon with merit: Keira McCoy.
Blue ribbon: Aubrey Tyler.

Grades 3-5, level 1: design board
Blue ribbon: Kylynn Slusher.

Blue ribbon: Ashton McCoy.

Hgtn. County 4-H Fair poster project results announced

A variety of poster projects were submitted by 4-H’ers during the Huntington County 4-H fair. Judging results of the projects are as follows:

GOAT
Kirah Klepper and Kortney Campbell, champions; Kayla Brown and Colt Hacker, reserve champions.
Blue ribbons: Mackenzie Brown, Addison Funk, Jersey Hacker and Zoey Taylor.

HORSE AND PONY
Avery Boxell, champion; Kenleigh Kratzer, reserve champion.
Blue ribbon with merit: Saij Hildebrandt.

The 2021 Huntington County 4-H Starter Calf Show took place on Wednesday, July 28, in the Parkview Huntington Hospital Show Arena.
The complete results are as follows:

DAIRY STARTER CALVES
Brody Endsley, champion dairy starter calf.
Dalton Husband, reserve champion dairy starter calf.

Class 1
Kaysin Landrum, first; David McMillan, second; Jud Crow, third; Kyler Landrum, fourth; James Douglass, fifth; Colton Reffitt, sixth; and Samantha Carroll, seventh.

4-H electrical projects judged

4-H’ers of all ages and abilities put together a variety of electrical projects and took them to the Huntington County Fairgrounds on Friday, July 23, for feedback and judging of their projects.
