Andrews to trot out festival finery this weekend

The community of Andrews will trot out its festival finery for the Andrews Summer Festival this Friday and Saturday, Aug. 11 and 12.

Over the two days, there will be four bands, two parades, a crew of camels and enough food to satisfy everyone.

3 bands, 2 parades, herd of camels just some of Andrews festival highlights

BackWater, a Huntington-based band playing country, classic rock and southern rock, will perform at the Andrews Summer Festival on Friday, Aug. 12, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Band members are Gene Fugate, Tom Johnson, Rich Schwartz and Adam Kiel.

Three bands, two parades and a herd of camels are just some of the highlights of this year’s Andrews Summer Festival.

The party starts on Friday, Aug. 12, and continues through Saturday, Aug. 13 — and everything’s free.

“We work very hard from the end of one festival to the beginning of the next one … so we can offer everything free for the kids in town,” says Kathy Gamble, one of the festival chairs.

 The organizing committee holds fund-raisers and seeks out donations to cover expenses and give the kids a good time.
