4-H’ers display wood projects

Projects of all shapes and sizes from 4-H woodworkers were brought to the Huntington County Fairgrounds on Friday, July 23, to be judged and subsequently displayed for the fair. Submissions were divided by grade level. Below are the results of the project judging:

WOODWORKING
Grades 3-4, Level A

Eli Dinius, champion; Laurel Dinius, reserve champion.
Blue ribbon with merit: Weston Dettmer.
Blue ribbons: Connor Cuttriss, Jacob Hosler, Dawson Husband, Cooper Lauer, Keira McCoy, David McMillan, Lukas Rakoczy and Caden VanOsdale.

Garden items judged during 4-H fair

Several varieties of garden items - including herbs, potatoes and garden plates - were submitted for judging on Friday, July 23, at the Huntington County Fairgrounds for the 2021 4-H Fair. Results of each project judging class are as follows:

Zachary Alleman, champion; Matthew McMillan, reserve champion.

Red ribbons: Haden Hendryx and Elise Neher.

4 Plate

Mara  Hendryx, champion; David McMillan, reserve champion.

Blue ribbon: Jonathan McMillan.

Results shared for 4-H’ers small grains and soybeans

Sabil Davenriner was the sole 4-H’er with a Small Grains project, earning a champion ribbon for a submission of small grains, oats/container of grain.
Several 4-H’ers earned a variety of ribbons for their soybean submissions. Judging for each took place on Friday, July 23, at the Huntington County Fairgrounds.
Results are as follows for soybean projects:

Grades 3-5
Jason Couch, champion; Isaiah Goeglein, reserve champion.

Blue ribbon with merit: Bryce Gilbert.

4-H’ers show off craft skills

Needle Craft

Leah Alwine, reserve champion.
Madison Herstad, reserve champion.

Blue ribbons: Elsie Davis and Madeline Davis.

Red ribbon: Megan Lickey.

Model Craft
Kole Keiffer, champion.
Aiden Wohlford, champion.
Eli Ramp, reserve champion.
Zachary Ramp, reserve champion.

4-H’ers show dairy cows during fair

The 2021 4-H Dairy show, which took place on Saturday, July 24, saw the Reinholt family take home many honors - with Trevor, Abigail and Benjamin Reinholt all earning honors in their respective age group divisions for showmanship.

Trevor was named Showmanship Master Champion.

For the Senior division, which is for grades 9 through 12, Trevor was also named the champion.

Abigail took home the champion in showmanship for the intermediate level, which is grades 6 through 8. Dyson Pearson earned the reserve champion slot.

Market rabbit show took place July 25

Caeden Crider, champion.

Grades 9-12, Level 3
Red ribbon: Madison Houser.

Here are the complete results of the 2021 Huntington County 4-H Fair Swine Show.
Bristol Buckland, grand champion gilt.
Jaima Vigar, reserve grand champion gilt.
Maci Scher, third place gilt; Mason Miller, fourth place gilt; and Alexandria Raab, fifth place gilt.
Quintenn Vigar, grand champion and reserve grand champion barrows.
Owen Vickrey, third place barrow; Aidan Raab, fourth place barrow, and Caden Brubaker, fifth place barrow.

4-H Scholarship Winners

The Huntington County 4-H Fair Scholarship Program took place on Wednesday, July 28, at the Huntington County Fairgrounds. The three recipients of the Indiana 4-H Foundation scholarships were Stephanie Atkinson (right), Matthew McMillan (left) and Colton Bradt (not present).

The family of Janelle Marie Saunders awarded Audrey Rice (left) with the 2021 Saunders Memorial Scholarship in the amount of $1,000 on Wednesday, July 28, at the Huntington County Fairgrounds. Also featured are (from left) Justin, Tiffany and Rick Saunders.

4-H Scholarship Winners

Two 4-H’ers were the recipients of the the 2021 Huntington County 4-H Scholarship. Featured recipient Jessica Hernandez with 4-H Youth Development Educator JP Pietrowski.  Scholarships were awarded on Wednesday, July 28.
