Pathfinder Kids Kampus Child Care Center in Huntington will host its 25th annual golf outing on Wednesday, May 8.
The fund-raising event, sponsored by David Culp and Company, will take place at Norwood Golf Club in Huntington. Registration begins at 11 a.m. and lunch, sponsored by SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, begins at 11:30 a.m. Shotgun start begins at 12:30 p.m. Appetizers, awards and auctions will take place after golf.

Chistiana Hicks
Christiana Hicks earned All-America honors for the Huntington University women’s track team with her eighth-place effort in triple jump at the NAIA Indoor National Championships on Saturday, March 5, in Johnson City, TN.
Hicks, a junior, became the 11th person in the history of the women’s program to earn All-American status. She earned the honor with a leap of 11.49 meters. The Fort Wayne native entered the event seeded 12th.
The trip was Hicks’ second to the indoor nationals. She finished 13th last year.

The Huntington University baseball team lost both games in a doubleheader with host St. Catharine College on Saturday, March 5.
The Foresters, 2-7, suffered an 11-6 defeat in the opener and a 3-0 setback in the nightcap to the Patriots, 15-6.

Huntington North High School gymnast Carly Snyder missed the cut for advancement in the floor exercise at the Huntington North Regional on Saturday, March 5, bringing her senior season to a close.
The Lady Vikings’ lone representative at the meet, Snyder posted an 8.525 in the event to finish 22nd. Only the top six finishers earned advancement to the state finals, set for Saturday, March 12, at Ball State University.

Host St. Catharine College hung the Huntington University baseball team with a 9-2 loss on Friday, March 4.
The Patriots, well into their season at 13-6, banged out 14 hits against the comparatively raw Foresters, playing in just their seventh game of the year.

The Crestview Middle School girls’ seventh and eighth-grade basketball teams both defeated host Lakeview on Thursday, March 3, to advance to the semifinals of the Northeast Lakes Middle School Conference tournament.
The younger Crestview team logged a 32-24 win over Lakeview.
Regan Harvey led the Lady Cougars, 10-6, with 10 points. Grace Gross and Reece Colclesser both chipped in seven points to the team’s cause.
The Crestview eighth-graders pulled off a 47-28 win.

The Huntington North high School boys' varsity basketball team pushed visiting Homestead to the edge before succumbing, 42-40, in the opening round of the Huntington North basketball sectional on Tuesday, March 1.
The Vikings, who lost to the Spartans by nine in the season-opener in a three-point shooting extravaganza, stuck to their usual formula of high-percentage shots and tight defense to make the defending state 4A champion Spartans sweat until the final seconds, when the guests forced a turnover in the waning seconds as HNHS was looking for the tying or winning points.

The Crestview Middle School wrestling team claimed second out of eight teams at its own invitational, held Saturday, Feb. 27.
The championship match saw the Cougars and Columbia City tie, 42-42, but the Eagles came out on top via tiebreaker criteria.
Crestview kicked off its run to the title bout with a 46-19 victory over Summit. The Cougars then dispatched Wabash, 39-19, and Southern Wells, 42-33, to face Columbia City.
Preston Teusch and Bill Thorn both went undefeated for Crestview.

Grace Gross led the Lady Cougars, 9-6, with 14 points and a strong defensive effort. Reece Colclesser chipped in 12 points to the Crestview cause.

The Huntington North High School boys’ freshmen basketball team finished its season with a pair of lopsided wins over Manchester and Bishop Luers.
The Vikings, 20-1, 7-0 in the Northeast 8 Conference, dispatched host Manchester, 63-25, on Wednesday, Feb. 17.
Sawyer Stoltz led Coach Sam Ryan’s squad with 17 points and four rebounds.
Brett Kaylor and Adam Zahn chipped in nine points apiece to the team’s offensive effort while Keegan Bartrom added seven points and Trey Williams dished out five assists.

Christine Sparks and Christiana Hicks will represent the Huntington University women’s track and field team at the indoor national championships, which will take place Thursday, March 3, through Saturday, March 5, at David E. Walker Track at Gentry Field in Johnson City, TN.
Sparks and Hicks, both juniors, will be competing in the 1,000-meter run and triple jump, respectively.
Sparks, a three-time national qualifier, enters her event seeded 15th. Last year, she placed 18th in the race, clocking in at 3:14.99.

Jake Nash will represent the Huntington University men’s track and field team at the indoor national championships, which will take place Thursday, March 3, through Saturday, March 5, at David E. Walker Track at Gentry Field in Johnson City, TN.
Nash will compete in high jump as the 20th seed. Making his third appearance on the national stage, the senior will look to earn his third all-American honor, after having finished sixth as a sophomore and fifth as a junior.
Men’s high jump is slated to begin on Friday, March 4, at 2 p.m.

The Optimist Club Tri Star Basketball Skills Competition was held at the Parkview Huntington Family YMCA on Sunday, Feb. 21. Players between the ages of 8 to 13 years competed in passing, dribbling and shooting contests with the overall score determining the winner of each age group.
Winners were CJ Reber, 8-year-old boys champion; Rachel Vereeke, 9-year-old girls champion; Liam Tibbs, 9-year-old boys champion; Madison Poulson, 10-year-old girls champion; and Aric Hosler, 10-year-old boys champion.

Crestview Middle School seventh-grader Preston Teusch (top of podium) captured first place in the 75-pound weight class at the Indiana High School Wrestling Coaches Association middle school state tournament, held Sunday, Feb. 14, at New Castle High School. Teusch yielded only two points the entire tournament. Other local participants in the tourney included Brady Lewis, Christina Klefeker and Derrik Scharland, who each made it to the medal round before losing.
