Inspirational speaker Dan Caro, who will provide the keynote address at the Pathfinder Services annual dinner on Oct. 22, will also appear at the Main branch of the Huntington City-Township Public Library earlier that day.

Caro's visit to the library, which will also include a book signing, will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 22.

Caro was just 2 years old when a gasoline explosion in his family's garage left him with third degree burns over 70 percent of his body. Doctors had little hope that he would survive. Ultimately, Caro lost his right hand and most of his left hand.

Caro dreamed of becoming a musician and started drumming at age 12. He now performs frequently as a drummer in the New Orleans area. He is also an ambassador for the Shriners of North America.

Caro tells his life story in the book "The Gift of Fire: How I Made Adversity Work for Me." Copies of the book will be available for purchase at the library during the Oct. 22 event. Credit card purchases may be made directly from the publisher at www.hayhouse.com or through most online book retailers.

For more information about the book signing, call the library at 356-0824.
