A group of women at The Heritage of Huntington, led by Sue Felder, has 71 hats and scarves to be donated at the New Life Café.

Starting in July, the group of about 12 women worked to crochet and knit enough hats and scarves to donate one item to each visitor at the New Life Café.

The knitting and crocheting, which was done over a six-week period, was partially done on looms, a new process for many of the residents involved.

Much of the yarn used was donated by residents participating or purchased through money donated by residents who could not knit or crochet.

"We wanted to do something to help keep people warm," says Claire Connolly, one of the women who participated in the knitting project.
