Three Huntington University faculty members have been granted promotions for the 2012-2013 school year.

Dr. Thomas Bergler will be promoted from associate to professor of ministry and missions. Dr. Luke Fetters will be promoted from associate to professor of ministry and missions. And Diana Shenefield will be promoted from instructor to assistant professor of nursing.

The changes were approved by the HU Board of Trustees at its January meeting.

Bergler completed his Ph.D. in American religious history from the University of Notre Dame and his M.A. in theology and church history from Wheaton College. He currently serves as senior associate editor of The Journal of Youth Ministry. He is the author of "The Juvenilization of American Christianity," which was published by Eerdmans Publishing this year. He teaches Foundations of Christian Ministry, Discipling Ministries, Contemporary American Youth Culture and Understanding the Christian Faith at HU.

Fetters is a graduate of Huntington University (B.A., M.C.M.) and Wheaton College Graduate School (M.A. in intercultural studies/China). He earned his doctorate of education in adult, higher and community education from Ball State University. Along with teaching in the ministry department, he is also the director of the HU Institute for TESOL Studies.

Shenefield came to Huntington in 2009. She is responsible for teaching nursing classes in the junior and senior year program as well as in the RN to BSN EXCEL program.

Before coming to HU, Shenefield worked as a registered nurse for 20 years, specializing in pediatrics.

She holds a master's in nursing administration from Indiana Wesleyan University and is currently writing her dissertation for her Ph.D. in nursing education through Capella University.
