Nine Huntington North High School students have earned awards in the 2012 Northeast Indiana and Northwest Ohio Scholastic Art and Writing Awards Competition.
Their work will be on display Feb. 11 through April 8 at the Fort Wayne Museum of Art. They will be honored at an awards ceremony on Saturday, Feb. 12, at 1 p.m. at the Grand Wayne Convention Center, 120 W. Jefferson Blvd., Fort Wayne.
Five HNHS students earned Gold Key awards, including senior Mitch Goetz, for his digital art portfolio; seniors Moriah Little and Logan Poe, for their sculptures; junior Onna Doering, for a ceramic piece; and sophomore Cassidy Johnson, for a painting.
Works by the Gold Key finalists will be judged in New York City for a national exhibition.
Freshman Collin Wesco earned a Silver Key award for his painting.
Honorable mentions went to senior Ally Baldridge, for a sculpture; senior Cassandra Hacker, for a drawing; and sophomore Lauren Smart, for a photograph.
Students in more than 50 schools across 26 counties were eligible to enter the regional competition.
Art teachers at HNHS are Teri Fuller-O'Brien, Joe Haft, Dominick Manco and Jerry Wright.
