The youth of St. Peter Lutheran Church will go 30 hours without eating on Feb. 24-25 as part of a national "30 Hour Famine" organized by World Vision.
The students will go without food in order to experience what is a reality for people around the world who don't have enough to eat because of poverty, war, famine and drought.
Each of the six participants has a goal of raising enough to feed a child for a year through World Vision. Each participant will also have the opportunity to apply for a study tour to a foreign county to see how the money is used.
The participants will sleep in shelters created from cardboard boxes to better understand what people with limited resources must do in order to have a place to sleep.
