Habitat seeking work day volunteers

Huntington County Habitat for Humanity is seeking volunteers to help with "A Brush With Kindness" projects in the area on the morning of Saturday, April 14.

Up to 10 projects are to be completed by volunteers between 9 a.m. and noon. Projects may include painting, landscaping, garden preparation, weather stripping and other exterior home repairs. The program benefits low-income, fixed-income and disabled homeowners.

Participants will meet at the Habitat office, located at 1454 Etna Ave., at 8:30 a.m. to enjoy some refreshments and meet other volunteers. Huntington University students, as part of the campus-wide Spring Work Day, will provide labor, and there is a need for many more volunteers. Groups of approximately six volunteers will be assigned to complete projects at 10 homes. Supplies, tools and crew leaders will be provided. No prior experience necessary.

To sign up, call 356-7425. Children 12-18 may participate and must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Children may not work on sites with power tools or overhead work.
