Learning the language

Joel Froomkin (left), co-owner of The New Huntington Theater, gives Huntington North High School students Andrew Anderson (center) and Alexia Gamble some acting advice for their production of scenes from "Macbeth" adapted to a modern setting. Froomkin discussed the evolution of the English language with sophomores in the HNHS Viking New Tech program, using William Shakespeare's 1606 play "Macbeth" as an example. Froomkin showed how some of the words and phrases from that 400-year-old play are still a part of the modern language, which also includes words that were not in use even 20 years ago. Froomkin's one-day artist-in-residence program was sponsored by the LaFontaine Arts Council.
