Cover Crop Field Day March 20 near Warren

The Huntington and Wells County Soil and Water Conservation Districts will host a Cover Crop Field Day on March 20 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

The field day will be held at the James Leazier farm, 8651 S. Warren Rd., located on the northeast corner of Ind.-5 and CR 900S just north of Warren.

The event will include soil pits showing cover crop root systems, benefits of cover crops in nutrient retention and protection from soil erosion and information about varieties of cover crops available to seed on your farms.

Guest speakers include Scot Haley, NRCS resource soil scientist, Mark Perry with CISCO Seeds and local landowners who have seeded cover crops.

Local ag vendors have been invited to share information about services they have to offer for maintenance and seeding of cover crops.
