Huntington County Leadership hosted its 2012 Youth Leadership graduation ceremony on Sunday, March 4, at the Crestview Middle School auditorium.

The 2012 graduating class of 16 is the 10th academy of students to graduate from the HCL youth leadership program.

Throughout the academy year, students attended a weekend retreat held at Epworth Forest, took tours of local government offices, learned about local industries including Our Sunday Visitor and Gerdau, toured St. Felix Oratory and the Parkview Huntington Family YMCA.

The students learned skills such as stress awareness, interview skills, proper dining etiquette and the importance of good financial decisions.

A final retreat sponsored in part by a grant from the Huntington County Community Foundation was held overnight at the YMCA.

The academy's community service projects for the year included working with the YMCA for a Kids' Healthy Day, hosting a "Senior" Prom at The Heritage of Huntington, and working with youth at the library reading and doing various activities.

This year's participants included Cade Abbett, Abby Blocker, Madison Carmichael, Jessie Earhart, Conner Hoke, Valerie Huffman, Lukas Kaylor, Marissa Koons, Quentin Lintz, Laresa Lund, Andrew McElhaney, Carley McElhaney, Elizabeth Reed, Caitlyn Sands, Madison Waldfogel and Edward Yanes.
