New owner Coon changes Tasty Pizza to Jimmy Pop’s Pizza Shop

The former Tasty Pizza of Huntington has a new owner and a new name.
James Coon assumed ownership of the pizza business on Monday, June 4, after purchasing the equipment from his parents, Berniece and Terry Shenefield, the previous owners of Tasty Pizza.
Coon also changed the business name from Tasty Pizza to Jimmy Pop's Pizza Shop.
Before Coon came on staff in November to assist with management of the shop, he was a member of the carpenter's union. Since assuming ownership he has lowered some prices and implemented some new policies, including uniforms. The menu is the same, he says.
Coon says he hopes to maintain a customer-focused business, and to build on the patron foundation already in place.
"We've got a really good customer base," he says.
Coon's wife Elizabeth will manage accounting and his son Izaak, 14, works at the business on the weekends.
"Most of it's family here," Coon says.
Jimmy Pop's Pizza Shop will still offer countywide delivery.
Jimmy Pop's Pizza Shop is located at 1203 S. Jefferson St., Huntington. The phone number is 358-1142.
