Make-A-Wish will host its inaugural UAW/GM Fort Wayne Walk for Wishes on Saturday, June 30, at Headwaters Park.
Registration will begin at 9 a.m. and the walk will kick off at 10 a.m.
Honorary Wish Child Ryan and his family will help start off the walk. Ryan is suffering from leukemia.
At the conclusion of the walk, participants are invited to attend a celebration at the finish line, where they can meet past and present wish families and enjoy food, entertainment and games.
Online registration will close at noon on Friday, June 29. Onsite registration will be available the morning of the walk. Registration for this noncompetitive 5K is free, but walkers are encouraged to fundraise.
Interested participants can visit www.wishwalkers.org to register as an individual or team-up with co-workers, family or friends. Participants who raise $100 or more will receive a Walk for Wishes T-shirt.
Financial support generated from the Walk for Wishes will provide the funding to grant wishes to Indiana youth suffering from life-threatening medical conditions.
Sponsors for the event are The International Union, United Automobile, Aerospace and Agricultural Implement Workers of America (UAW)/General Motors (GM), Kelley Automotive, Lucky Harley Davidson, Heartland Vision and Northeast Indiana Chevy Dealers, Mancinos, Applebee's and Canteen Vending.
