HCCSC board completes long list of additions to staff at special board meeting on Aug. 1

The Huntington County Community School Corporation completed a long list of additions to its staff during a special meeting of the school board on Wednesday, Aug. 1.

Included in the list were Brad Ludlow, new assistant principal at Crestview Middle School and Rod Richison, dean of students at Huntington North High School.

Ludlow has worked in the Huntington schools in the past, most recently as principal of Salamonie School when it operated as a K-8 school.

Richison worked as a teacher at Crestview during the 2011-12 school year, and prior to that worked as a teacher at Riverview.

The board unanimously approved all new employees to the corporation.

Also discussed at the special meeting were the RISE teacher and administration evaluation models. The models were first presented to the board on Dec. 19, 2011 by Chuck Grable, assistant superintendent, and again by Superintendent Tracey Shafer on June 26.

On Wednesday evening Shafer presented the model again, giving information about both the teacher and administrator evaluation process, and answering questions from the board.

Shafer says, "This is the state model which focuses on professional practice and student learning."

With the new models, Huntington teachers and administrators would be evaluated using the RISE rubric, which would assign a rating to each individual based on their evaluated performance.
