Rines is new assistant manager at local Sherwin-Williams store

Sherwin-Williams in Huntington announces the addition of Shelby Rines to its staff as assistant manager.

The Portland native earned a degree in human resource management from Ball State University, and assumed her new duties on June 1.

"I wrote a paper on Sherwin-Williams in college and by doing that I learned a lot about the company and what it stands for," Rines states. "I also got the chance to talk to a few reps who came to a job fair on campus."

Rines says she then applied online for Sherwin-Williams' management training program. After spending six weeks in training at a store in Muncie, the Huntington position opened up after its manager accepted a position at a store in Fort Wayne.

"My job duties include keeping the lines of communication between me and the manager open as well as customer service," she adds. "I assist people with whatever they need when they come in."

Rines says that each day brings new learning opportunities.

"I'm learning something new everyday," she says. "Whether its from talking to contractors or DIYers, the questions are always interesting."

Rines adds that she has even had homeowners bring pictures of completed projects to show her.

"I love getting to know the customers," she says. "It's one of the best parts of the job."

Store hours are Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The store is located at 2088 N. Jefferson St.
