Hazardous waste facility adds hours
Thursday, September 13, 2012 7:29 AM
The Huntington County Solid Waste Management District has expanded weekend hours for the Household Hazardous Waste Facility located at 517S-300W, Huntington.
The facility will now be open the first and third Saturdays of each month, from 8 to 11:30 a.m.
These hours are in addition to weekly collection on Wednesdays from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Thursdays, by appointment.
The additional Saturday collection will begin on Sept. 15.
"This increase in availability will hopefully make it more convenient for Huntington County residents to properly dispose of items that are not accepted at the landfill," says Kathy Branham, board president.
Items accepted at the facility include latex and oil based paints, stains, oil, antifreeze, televisions, computer monitors, household cleaners, batteries and fluorescent tubes.
For more information contact Jonathan Leist, district director, at 358-4886.
