Pickard’s picture to hit Times Square

Reid Pickard, of Roanoke, will be featured in the National Down Syndrome Society's Times Square video presentation on Saturday, Sept. 22.

Pickard's photo was one of more than 200 photos selected from more than 1,000 entries in the society's worldwide call for photos. Reid, who has Down Syndrome, is pictured riding his bicycle.

The video made from the photographs will be shown on the News Corporation Sony Screen in the heart of Times Square, kicking off Down Syndrome Awareness Month in October. The video presentation will be followed by the 18th annual New York City Buddy Walk in Central Park.

Pickard is an eighth-grader at Crestview Middle School. He is the son of Randy and Jen Pickard.
