In solidarity with the International Day of Prayer for Peace, Victory Noll Center will hold a special Taize Prayer Service on Tuesday, Sept. 18, inviting all to join in prayer to end violence in hearts, families, communities, churches and among nations.
The service will be held at 7 p.m. at Victory Noll Center, located at 1900 W. Park Drive in Huntington.
No registration is required and there is no cost to attend the service.
The service, used by the community in Taize, France, is based on an ancient style found in the church, with songs, Psalms, a Gospel text, silence and prayers of intercession.
The objective of the International Day of Peace Vigil is "to encourage worldwide, 24-hour spiritual observations for peace and nonviolence on the International Day of Peace in every house of worship and place of spiritual practice, by all religious and spiritually based groups and individuals, and by all men, women and children who seek peace in the world."
Regular Taize prayer services are held on the third Tuesday of each month at Victory Noll Center. Other upcoming dates are Oct. 23, Nov. 20 and Dec. 18.
