State construction closes some county roads

The Indiana Department of Transportation has several road construction projects going that have resulted in road closures in Huntington County.

All three projects began Monday, Aug. 24.

County Road 300S over I-69, 3.4 miles north of Ind.-124, is closed through late October for the construction of a new bridge deck. There is no official detour. The road is expected to re-open in late October.

A bridge deck is also being replaced on Ind.-124 over Brook Creek, located near Mt. Etna between Ind.-5 and Ind.-9. The official detour takes motorists on Ind.-5 to I-69, Ind.-128 and Ind.-9. The project is expected to be complete in late October.

The projects on CR 30S and Ind.-124 are being done by Primco at a total cost of $690,000. They are being paid for by funds received through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

In addition, INDOT is replacing pipe and tile on Ind.-105 near CR 700S, about a mile south of Ind.-124. The work began Monday, Aug. 24, and is expected to be complete by Friday afternoon, Aug. 28.
