Lincoln dinner and show will be held on Oct. 5
Monday, September 24, 2012 7:29 AM
Lincoln Elementary School will hold its third annual Heith Garner Scholarship Spaghetti Dinner and Talent Show on Friday, Oct. 5, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the school cafeteria and gym.
Tickets may be purchased in advance from Dawn Jackson at 224-1276.
Proceeds from the dinner will go to the Lincoln Elementary Heith Garner Scholarship Fund, which was started in 1997 in honor of a former Lincoln student who died in an automobile accident. He was the son of Don and Angie Garner, of Huntington, who help present the scholarships every spring.
The scholarships are awarded to Huntington North High School seniors who attended Lincoln for three years or more and who plan to pursue college or technical degrees.
Lincoln Caring Families, the school mini-mall project, Lincoln classrooms, teachers and other individuals have contributed to the scholarship fund over the years. Since 1997, more than 80 former Lincoln students have been awarded more than $25,000 to further their college educations.
