Thursday, November 1, 2012 8:19 AM
The Christmas City Chorus, a regional women's choir based in Marion, will be the opening act for the Huntington North High School Varsity Singers' Pomp & Plenty Concert on Sunday, Nov. 18, at 7 p.m.
The Christmas City Chorus includes singers of all ages and backgrounds from 10 Indiana counties. It's one of more than 600 choruses that make up Sweet Adelines International, a worldwide singing organization for women.
Audience members at the 2012 Spring Regional Competition in Covington, KY, named the Christmas City Chorus the Most Entertaining Chorus. The group was the third place medalist in the mid-size chorus division in that competition. Previously, the Christmas City Chorus earned several first place medals in the small chorus division.
The Christmas City Chorus is directed by Zoe Hagy, with Danielle Ellenburg serving as choreographer.
The 7 p.m. concert on Nov. 18 is one of two performances by the Varsity Singers on that day. The Pomp & Plenty concert will also be performed at 2 p.m. on Nov. 18.
A performance preceded be an optional gourmet dinner, served in the HNHS commons overlooking a lighted courtyard, will be presented on Saturday evening, Nov. 17. Tickets may be purchased for the dinner-show combination or just for the show on Saturday.
Tickets for all shows are available at Bippus State Bank, First Federal Savings Bank, PNC and Teachers Credit Union or from any member of the Varsity Singers.
