HU emeritus music professor Spedden releases third album

Dr. Patricia Spedden, emeritus professor of music at Huntington University, has released her third album titled "Classical Praise 12: Solo Piano 3."

It is published and marketed by Discovery House Music in Grand Rapids, MI.

The compact disc features piano arrangements of recognized worship songs blended with classical piano works, all arranged and recorded by Spedden.

The CD's 10 arrangements include combinations such as "People Need the Lord" with Pachelbel's "Canon" and "They'll Know We are Christians by Our Love / Love, Love with Chopin's "Nocturne in E Minor." Another well-known blended track is "It Is Well with My Soul" with Beethoven's "Concerto in E Flat."

This album is a follow-up to Spedden's second CD, "Classical Praise 7: Solo Piano Encore," released in 2007.

A native of New York City and winner of several concerto competitions as well as awards for piano performance, Spedden has appeared as a piano soloist with symphony orchestras in the East and Midwest.

She frequently performs solo and chamber music professionally, and has presented a number of scholarly papers.

She holds bachelor's, master's and doctorate degrees in piano performance and has studied with Beveridge Webster, Pia Sebastiani and Menahem Pressler.
