Rep. Leonard is chairman of House Ways and Means LGT subcomittee

State Rep. Dan Leonard (R-Huntington) has been appointed chairman of the Local Government or Tax Subcommittee of the House Ways and Means Committee.

Leonard will serve on the committee under its new chairman, Rep. Tim Brown (R-Crawfordsville).

House Speaker Brian Bosma (R-Indianapolis) announced leadership positions of the House Ways and Means Committee in a press conference on Nov. 13.

"I am humbled that I was considered for the chairmanship of the subcommittee on Ways and Means, and I look forward to working on local government issues," said Leonard. "Tim Brown is an excellent choice for chairman, and I know that he will continue the great work that has been done by Rep. Espich and past chairs."

The House Ways and Means Committee is charged with overseeing fiscal issues and spearheading a balanced budget for the state of Indiana. Leonard's evolving responsibilities as subcommittee chairman will include dealing with and allocating funds for local government.
