CMS band students get ISSMA golds

Members of the Crestview Middle School seventh and eighth grade bands at Crestview Middle School competed at Eastbrook High School on Saturday Feb. 2, at the annual Solo and Ensemble Contest sponsored by the Indiana State School Music Association (ISSMA).

Several students received Gold ratings. They are:
Group V Solos - Sydnee Gradeless, flute; Jack Young, French horn; and Matthew Overholser, tuba.

Division IV - Erika Kennedy, flute; Alexis Pace, alto sax; Tyler Gates, alto sax; Katie Hunt, trumpet; and Montana Phillips, tuba.

Kaitlyn Burkhart, trumpet, received a Silver rating in Division IV.

Group V ensembles
• Trumpet Quartet - Ethan Emley, Levi Lehman, Caden Glassburn and Eric Reust.

• Woodwind quartet - Sydnee Gradeless, Melanie Gradeless and Gabi Haneline, all flute; and Johanna Dohrman, clarinet.

• Woodwind Trio - Gillian Lintz, clarinet; Rachel Moore, clarinet; and Jordan Neal, bassoon.

Group IV ensembles
• Woodwind Quartet - Kylie Kaylor, flute; Julia Bailey, alto sax; Sierra Lehman, clarinet, and Tyler Gates, alto sax.

• Saxophone Quartet - Tyler Gates, alto sax, Julia Bailey, alto sax, Jacob Garlits, tenor sax, and Matt Guhl, baritone sax.

• Trumpet Quartet - Katie Hunt, Kaitlyn Burkhart, Chase Stepler and Dawson Hertel.

The bands are under the direction of Doug McElhaney.
