Riverview students earn medals at ISSMA; Smekens advances to state

Students from Riverview Middle School competed in the 2013 Indiana State School Music Association Solo and Ensemble Contest at Bellmont High School, Decatur, on Jan. 26.

Sophia Smekens received a gold rating in Division 1.
She will compete in the state ISSMA event Feb. 16 in Indianapolis.

Other students receiving gold ratings were  Division 2, Hayley Haynes and Brooke Trice; Division 3, Jordan Stanley, Rachel Fulton and William Borland; Division 4, Lexie Mills, Stormee Putt, Lizzy Dryer, Leah Padgett, Sam Ellenburg and Brendon Stanley; Division 5, Maddie Weller, Rebecca Short and Gracie Koons.

Students receiving a Silver rating were  Division 1, Emma Davidson; Division 3, Nick Stucky; Division 4, Brooke Overholser; Division 5, Olivia Rosen.

Groups rating a silver were Division 3, Sophia Smekens, Hayley Haynes and Brooke Trice; Division 4, Lexie Mills, Paige Martz, Olivia Camomile and Hannah Quakenbush; Division 5, Elizabeth Rice, Kaitlyn Reed and Abby Horn; Division 5, Constance Tilley.

The students were accompanied by Stephanie Schultz, Danielle Ellenburg, John Wenning and Joanne Killian.
