Friends of Library to honor trustee Sprague
Monday, February 18, 2013 7:45 AM
The Friends of the Huntington City-Township Public Library will honor Carlton Sprague, outgoing member of the library's board of trustees, with a farewell reception on Monday, Feb. 18, at 6 p.m. in the north gathering area at the Main Library in Huntington.
Sprague will be recognized for his many years of unpaid, volunteer service to Huntington City-Township Public Library and to the communities it serves.
Sprague served on the Huntington City-Township Public Library Board of Trustees and has served as treasurer on the combined Huntington City-Township and Markle Board of Trustees since 2003.
Diligent in his attendance at board meetings, Sprague has also been faithful in attending classes and informational sessions for library trustees offered at state and national library conferences for many years.
In addition to his regular attendance at board meetings and professional conferences, he devoted at least six to eight hours each month to his duties as treasurer, which often required him to sign up to 150 checks and go through 110 to 120 expense vouchers per month in preparation for board meetings.
Library patrons, former and present members of the library board of trustees and the public are invited to attend and sign their names to a giant card of appreciation to be given to Sprague at the event.
The Friends of the Library will provide refreshments to all who attend.
For more information, call the Main Library at 356-0824.
The Main Library is located at 255 W. Park Drive, Huntington.
