HU partnering with LRAP to help students
Monday, March 11, 2013 8:05 AM
Huntington University is partnering with the LRAP Foundation to provide two area students with assistance repaying their college loans, no matter what college they attend.
HU has participated in the Loan Repayment Assistance Program (LRAP) for five years, offering income-based assistance to students in paying off their college loans.
To increase awareness of the program the LRAP Foundation is offering two "Free to Dream" LRAP awards to any student in northeast Indiana and northwest Ohio so that those students can attend any college in the country without being concerned about debt.
Foundation representatives will visit 73 schools over the next three weeks to introduce the program, and the awards will be presented to the winning students during a ceremony in late April at Huntington University.
"In this tough economy, we want to remove the fear of debt from all students," says Jeff Berggren, senior vice president for enrollment management and marketing at Huntington University. "We want students and families to know that a high-quality, Christ-centered education might be much more affordable than they had previously thought."
