Local Red Cross chapter conducts March fund-raiser

The Huntington County Chapter of the American Red Cross is raising funds to help local Red Cross volunteers serve Huntington County residents.

The fund drive is being held during March, which is observed as Red Cross Month.

Ninety-one cents of every dollar donated to the Red Cross goes directly to client services, says, Vickie Ellis, program specialist with the local chapter.

The chapter is supported by financial donations from individuals and businesses, as well as support from the United Way of Huntington County.

The Huntington County Chapter served 1,552 residents during the 2012 fiscal year, Ellis notes.

"We want all the families of Huntington County to know that the Red Cross is here in their neighborhood every single day to help anyone who needs us," she says.

Donations can be sent to American Red Cross, Huntington County Chapter, 354 N. Jefferson St., Huntington, IN 46750.
