The Huntington North High School Marching Vikes will offer the community a free performance of their 2009 pre-game and competition shows on Tuesday, Sept. 22, at 7 p.m. at Kriegbaum Field.

Introductions and the performance will last about 45 minutes.

This year's show, "Time," opens with a custom piece written specifically for the Marching Vikes. It borrows from the tune "Time After Time" and uses a variety of time signatures.

The opening features Marching Vikes members rising as analog clocks start to turn. The show features clock-oriented flags, dancers with "clock hands" and a large analog clock, painted by band parents, with clock hands that match the clock parts along the sidelines.

The clock seems to wind down as the band makes a transition to a ballad, which uses the theme from the movie "Somewhere in Time." The flute section takes the shape of a teardrop heart to begin the love song. As the band forms a large tilted hourglass, some members of the color guard perform with hourglasses and chain flags.

A "Time Chant" is followed by the "Time After Time" theme as the band moves into its final formation in a flurry of fast-moving parts.
