Short, Freck earns Optimist honors for month

The Huntington Optimist Club announces the middle school recipients of its youth appreciation award for April to be Riverview Middle School students Alexandra Short and Andrew Freck.

Short is the daughter of Alan and Michelle Short, of Huntington.

Her extracurricular activities include Academic Super Bowl, cross country, track, swimming, student leaders, Campus Life, Notre Dame - Engineering Day, Future City, Riverview TV (executive director), Pulse Opera House play and community service.

Freck is the son of Greg and Melissa Freck, of Marion.

His extracurricular activities include geography bee, Academic Super Bowl, Riverview TV, Games Club, Slam Youth Group, 4-H (six years), civic center and basketball.

The youth appreciation awards are presented to two middle school students and three students from Huntington North High School who demonstrate outstanding dedication and service to their school, the community and its citizens.
