Rev. Ron Rieder will celebrate the 50th anniversary of his ordination as a priest on Sunday, April 21, at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.

Rieder, who was ordained on April 20, 1963, in Marathon, WI, has served as pastor of the church in Huntington for 29 years.

The celebration will begin with Mass at 3 p.m. at SS. Peter and Paul Church, 860 Cherry St. After Mass, a reception and light lunch will be held in Rieder Auditorium, located in the school building adjacent to the church.

Rieder began his ministry in the Roman Catholic diocese of Gary and spent time at Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI, before moving to the motherhouse of his religious order, the Capuchin Franciscans, in Detroit, MI. He later served as director of personnel for the order.

He served churches in St. Paul MN, and in Hazel Park, MI; served as superior of the motherhouse, including the soup kitchen; and led retreats in Appleton, WI, before coming to Huntington 29 years ago.
