Dylan Gray, a 2011 graduate of Huntington North High School, has been named a Ford Apprentice Scholar for his junior and senior years at Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, FL.
Gray is completing his sophomore year at Eckerd, where he is majoring in sociology and psychology. He was named a Peter Pav Scholar at the end of his freshman year.
Gray's experience will include a two-semester course in the History of Ideas in the junior year concluding with a symposium at which he will make public presentations; a summer research project in close collaboration with his faculty sponsor, Professor Michael Flaherty; a major research project as a senior; publication of an article based on this research in the Eckerd Scholar; and a year-long weekly seminar during the senior year in which he will share progress reports on his research, hear from individual faculty members on life as a professor, and discuss major issues having to do with contemporary higher education.
