Seeking volunteers to ‘Detrash the Wabash’
Thursday, May 9, 2013 8:02 AM
Volunteers are being sought to help "Detrash the Wabash."
The effort to clean up the river, which is being organized by the city of Huntington, will take place on July 27, but an organizational meeting will be held in May.
Anyone willing to serve as a team organizer is asked to attend the organizational meeting on May 22 at 6:30 p.m. in the council chambers on the third floor of the City Building, 300 Cherry St., Huntington. Potential team organizers are also asked to contact the City Services Department at city.ser firstname.lastname@example.org or 356-4720.
Team organizers will recruit volunteers to make up a team. Each team will be assigned a section of the river to clean up. Each section will have a designated trash drop-off area, and city crews will pick up the trash at a later date.
Anyone who wants to volunteer to be a team member, but not an organizer, is asked to contact the City Services Department. They will be placed on a team.
