Main Steet Huntington taking grant apps now
Thursday, May 16, 2013 8:09 AM
Main Street Huntington is currently accepting grant applications from downtown building owners for funding to help them improve their buildings.
The applications and guidelines are available online at www.main streethuntington.org. Applications will be accepted through Aug. 1 and grants will be awarded on a rolling schedule during that time.
Owners of business, professional and not-for-profit buildings in the downtown Huntington area are eligible to apply for the grants. Owners of buildings that are primarily residential are not eligible.
The eligible area is roughly bounded by John Street and Etna Avenue on the north and south, and by Oak Street and the alley behind Trinity United Methodist Church on the west and east.
Grants are available for two types of work - facade improvements and roofing repairs.
Main Street Huntington, using money the city has allocated from CEDIT funds, will provide a grant of up to 50 percent of the total cost of the work. The grants are capped at $15,000 for facade improvements and $10,000 for roof repairs.
The grant applications will be reviewed by a volunteer Main Street Huntington committee, and small projects as well as major repairs will be considered.
