Warren Town Council passes budget for 2010; includes property tax hike

The Warren Town Council passed the advertised budget for 2010, including a property tax increase, at the council's meeting on Monday, Sept. 14.

The new 83-cent property tax rate for 2010 is about three cents higher than 2009's rate of $0.7983.

However, the budget and tax rate are both subject to change by the Indiana Department of Local Government Finance. The IDLGF reviews the budget of every municipality in Indiana, and makes adjustments as the department sees fit.

A drop in Warren's total assessed property value to $29,909,189 from over $33 million the previous year prompted the increase.
