The LaFontaine Arts Council (LAC) honored three Huntington Catholic eighth graders as Artists of the Month in May.
Joshua Bowers, son of Jill Bowers and Scott Bowers of Huntington, was nominated by Jan Tharp, his art teacher. According to Tharp, "Josh is very creative and excellent at problem solving and going the extra mile. He is dedicated and strives to set high standards in his art work."
Bowers plans to attend Bishop Luers next year.
Lindsey Scher was nominated by Joan Gardner for her outstanding achievement in music.
"Lindsey is a joy to have in class. She likes to sing and volunteers to answer questions. This year she has taken on the lead in our school musical, with several solos," Gardner stated.
Scher was chosen as the Girl of the Year and is on student council.
She participates in band and also received the Kiwanis Award.
Scher is the daughter of Christi and Kevin Scher, of Huntington.
The recipient of the Huntington Middle School Spirit Award, Brie-anna Justine Coburn, was nominated for her outstanding performance in band by Doug McElhaney.
