Lincoln awards 2 Heith Garner Scholarships
Thursday, June 13, 2013 8:12 AM
Lincoln Elementary School recently awarded two Huntington North High School graduates the Heith Garner Memorial Scholarship.
This year's recipients are Belle Kreider and Lizzie Parker, both former students at Lincoln School. Both plan to attend Huntington University in the fall.
Kreider, the daughter of Jody Kreider and the late David Kreider, plans to pursue a career in youth ministry.
At HNHS, she participated in peer tutoring, was an office helper and was active with The Campus newspaper. She also serves as a youth minister at The Awakening Community Church.
Parker, the daughter of Roger and Candy Parker, plans to major in elementary education, with a minor in early childhood education.
In addition to completing the CNA program, she has been involved with Leo Club and FEA during high school and volunteered at the local soup kitchen, Boys & Girls Club and Kids Kampus.
Don and Angie Garner, parents of the late Heith Garner, presented the awards. The scholarship was initiated in 1997 in memory of their son, who was a former Lincoln student.
Each winner will receive a one-time $750 scholarship.
