Droege earns award in Honeywell art show

The Honeywell Center in Wabash has announced winners of the 2013 Clark Gallery themed art competition.

The sixth annual competition, sponsored by Nancy J's Fabrics and Heaven on Earth, features "Quilts" as its theme and accepted art in any medium that represented that subject. Artwork for the competition is on display now through July 10.

Cherie Droege, of Roanoke, was a local award winner.
In all, 43 artists entered 78 pieces for the competition, of which judge Ejenobo Oke selected 42 pieces to go on exhibit.

Oke is an Associate Professor of Art at Manchester University. She has a Bachelor of Art from Manchester College and a Master's of Fine Art in visual studies with an emphasis in fibers from Norfolk State University/Old Dominion University.

An awards reception will be held on July 10 at 7 p.m.

The reception is free and open to the public; those wishing to attend are asked to RSVP by calling Clark Gallery Manager Andrea Zwiebel at 563-1102 ext. 501, or by emailing clark gallery@honeywellcenter.org.

The Clark Gallery is free and open to the public every day. Some artwork in this competition may be purchased through the Honeywell Center's box office between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
