Hailey Stepler, Alena Miller, Sebastian Kreul and Melissa Westfall are the winners in the Huntington City-Township Public Library's annual poetry contest.

Participants were asked to write a poem on the topic "beneath the surface."

Stepler's poem, titled "Beneath the Surface," won first place in the junior division for grades six to eight.

Miller's poem, "Light," came in second and Kreul's poem, "Untitled," was third in the same division.

In the senior division for grades nine through 12, Westfall's "Jesus Over Idols" won first place.

The poems will be on display for the remainder of the summer at the main library in Huntington.
